Learning Science Through Computer Games and Simulations.
For anyone used in starting out in learning about the use of games and simulations in science teaching, this book length PDF put together in 2011 by the US National Research Council contains a range of useful insights on the use of games and simulations to teach science. There are general chapters on learning with games, and on games in the classroom and for the more experienced user there are also chapters on games in informal learning contexts, games for assessment and areas for further research. This is a good way in to the area that rewards the spending of a little time to get deeper into the subject.
