iSMART - Smart Technology Solutions for Children with Dyslexia

iSMART is a project funded by the Lifelong Learning Programme (COMENIUS).  It focuses on the use of “smart” ICT tools (such as smart phones, tablets and interactive whiteboards) as support for pupils with learning disabilities (particularly dyslexia) in formal and informal education. The main target groups are children aged 9-12 years diagnosed with dyslexia, their teachers and parents. The main outcome of the project will be validated package of applications that will help pupils to retain information about the taught topics, to transfer learning materials from the interactive whiteboard in the classroom into a “smart” device” and to strengthen communication between pupil, teachers and parents. This will enable the pupil to maintain self-esteem and comparable capability in writing notes or remembering lessons as written by teacher on whiteboard.
